Right from the moment he moved to Ethiopia, father Ton got interested in the culture of the Borana people. He started studying the culture soon after he got there. Together with father Iede and father Vince, he wrote a first book on Borana language and culture. In 1991, this book "for the study of language and culture of Borana" was published.
The years after the publication, father Ton kept working on the book. To improve it and complete it. When he found out that a word was not in the book, he started talking to a Borana foreman, trying to get enough information to describe the word or custom in the book as good as possible.
By working on the book, the Borana started appreciating their own culture more and more.
In March 2007, his life's work was published and presented.
